Workspace 1912

Workspace Environment Management 4.5 and newer have PowerShell commands. For details, see Citrix Workspace Environment Management 1912 SDK at Citrix Developer docs. To create the database using the GUI tool: The person running Database Management must be a sysadmin on the SQL Server. An update guide for Citrix Workspace Environment Management (WEM) to the latest version 1912. On December 14, 2020 Citrix released version 2012 of Workspace Environment Management (WEM). This is an update guide.

We've had issues when connecting to a XenApp environment from non-GPU Horizon VDI where the remote application menu bars would delay, apps would hang, etc. We were able to resolve this back on Receiver 4.9 by disabling hardware acceleration via ADMX policy/template.

After updating our VDI image to Workspace App 1912 (LTSR), the issue is back. We confirmed that the policy is correctly set, and the registry key is present (HWacceleration = 0) but it does not appear to be honoring this setting.

Has anyone ran into this? Are there any additional settings that must be set since we're now on Workspace App? I have opened a ticket with Citrix as well with no resolution thus far.

Citrix Workspace 1912 For Windows 10

Citrix Workspace 1912

The Citrix Workspace app Long Term Service Release (LTSR) is released on a less frequent cadence with an extended lifecycle than the Workspace app Current Releases (CR), offering predictability and less changes to the product. The Citrix Workspace app LTSR offers Cumulative Updates (CU) that contain fixes but no new functionalities. These CUs are deployed roughly once a quarter with an attempt to reduce the number of changes made in every following CU. With the release cycle and cadence in consideration, Citrix is omitting Citrix Embedded Browser from the Workspace app 1912 LTSR for Windows. This removal of the embedded browser is to ensure product predictability due to the fact that the Embedded Browser needs updated on a more frequent cadence than the CUs allow.
Questions and Answers
What functionality does the removal of the Citrix Embedded Browser from the Citrix Workspace app LTSR for Windows impact?
The removal of the embedded browser means that HDX Browser Content Redirection feature will not work with Citrix Workspace app for Windows LTSR. We recommend that customers looking to leverage this feature utilize the Citrix Workspace app Current Release.
Will the impact on Browser Content Redirection affect Microsoft Teams optimization?
The removal of the Browser Content redirection feature does not directly impact the optimization for native Microsoft Teams within a virtual environment. We have a robust Microsoft Teams feature set built into the Workspace app LTSR that will remain the same throughout the lifecycle of the LTSR client with quality and bug fixes. Note: we recommend that organizations wanting continuous access to the latest features leverage the Current Releases of the Workspace app.
I am a customer using Citrix Receiver LTSR 4.9 wanting to update to Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR for Windows. How does this change impact me?
Citrix Receiver LTSR 4.9 users can seamlessly update to Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR. As long as you are not looking at using the browser content redirection feature, there should be no impact. If you launch SaaS and Web based apps from Citrix Workspace app, these apps will be launched using Citrix Secure Browser service (due to the absence of Citrix Embedded Browser).
I am a customer using Citrix Workspace app CR 1911. What version/release should I update to?
Citrix has released Citrix Workspace app 2002 for Windows. This is a CR release. It is recommended that all customers following the CR track update to Citrix Workspace app 2002 and NOT Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR. Citrix Workspace app 1912 is intended for LTSR customers only.
How is Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR different from Citrix Workspace app 2002?
Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR does NOT include Citrix embedded browser. However, Citrix Workspace app 2002 does include Citrix embedded browser. There is no other difference.
I am a customer using Citrix Receiver 4.9 for Windows and have enabled auto-update for the LTSR track. Which version will I automatically be updated to?

I updated from Citrix Workspace app 1911 to Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR. What happens to the Citrix embedded browser component which was installed?
If you update from a previous CR release of Citrix Workspace app to Citrix Workspace app 1912 LTSR, the embedded browser component will be uninstalled. This will cause the Browser Content Redirection feature to stop working. Web and SaaS based application will not be launched in the embedded browser. These apps will launch using the Citrix Secure Browser Service.
